Tattoo designs: West African Adinkra symbols

Tattoos are a type of decorative body modification, like piercing. In other cultures are used as a form of identification. Compilations, however, be seen as a way to express yourself. Adinkra are visual symbols that are ubiquitous in Ghana, a country in West Africa, located between Togo and Côte d'Ivoire (also known as Ivory Coast). These symbols are originally created by the Akan or Asante people of Ghana and Ivory Coast Gyaman people. They are normally included pottery, fabrics, ads, logo, walls and other architectural features. The word "adinkra" actually means "goodbye", so no wonder that the funerals which are commonly used cloths printed with these symbols. Ghana colored Kente cloth, well known to symbolize royalty also use an Adinkra patterns as ornaments. However, these symbols do not constitute only death or wealth; they make other aspects of life as well.

Adinkra symbols have different different meaning and philosophy. Each symbol is named after a specific historical event, the shape of the object, the behavior of animals, human behaviour and attitudes or forms of plant life. Also take the shape of inanimate objects, animals, plants or celestial objects. In short the different patterns contain various aspects of life and its substance.

There are approximately 65 unique symbols to choose from. You can choose the one that best describes who you are, or what do you want to be. One of the most popular symbols is Fawohodie, which literally means "independence comes from its responsibilities". This means "freedom", 'usamodzielnienia "or" independence ". This is the perfect symbol for the person who respects the freedom of the lot. If you are a religious person, you can select both the Nsoromma and Nyame Nti.
